CSEA Endorses Jim Coughlan for Re-Election

Poughkeepsie, NY – Earlier, New York State’s leading union, CSEA Local 1000 Southern Region Office, announced its endorsement of Dutchess County Comptroller Jim Coughlan (R,C,I) for re-election. The CSEA Southern Region, which is made up of over 40,000 workers across the Hudson Valley, stated their reasoning behind their decision to endorse is based on Coughlan’s interests in the issues affecting workers and his commitment to addressing the needs of Duchess County workers.

CSEA Southern Region President Billy Riccaldo said, “Jim Coughlan has the professional experience necessary to continue to help the hard working men and women of Dutchess County. We are excited to endorse Jim’s candidacy, and look forward to continue working alongside him.”

CSEA Dutchess County President Liz Piraino said, “I’ve been impressed by Comptroller Coughlan’s work since he was elected to the position in 2009. It’s important to have intelligent, independent oversight over the finances of a county the size of Dutchess. We have had a good working relationship for his entire tenure, and I look forward to continuing this for the next four years.”

“Thank you to CSEA Southern Region President Billy Riccaldo, CSEA Dutchess County President Liz Piraino, and the hard working members of CSEA who have placed their trust in me for another term as Dutchess County Comptroller. It is truly an honor to receive this endorsement from the men and women who work every day to help make Dutchess a great place to live. The CSEA holds the values of honesty, accountability, and fiscal responsibility as working principles; just as I have for the last 8 years and will continue to do when re-elected this November,” said Coughlan.

Jim, 50, is a graduate of Providence College and Roger Williams Law School. For 9 years he managed business units throughout Asia; and, for 5 years he practiced Finance and Patent Litigation in New York City. His specialty is Japanese and Chinese infringement.

Coughlan, who also received the endorsement from the Dutchess County Deputy Sheriff’s PBA, has run twice with the Republican and Conservative Party lines for Dutchess County Comptroller and ran unopposed, with the additional Independence endorsement, for a second term in 2013. He lives in Rhinecliff with his wife, Sharon and his son, Wesley.
